Motivational Power Quote
Practice Makes Permanent
“People create their own success by
learning what they need to learn
and then by practicing it until they
become proficient at it.”
Brian Tracy, author consultant, speaker
As I see it . . . . . . .
Practice makes permanent
I grew up in the inner city of Trenton
N.J. in basketball culture. Every elementary school in the city at the time had
a basketball team. Basketball was played at a very completive level and the
league was the feeder system for the local high schools.
A large number of the basketball player
when on to compete at the college level with scholarships.
As a sixth grader you had the
opportunity to try out for your schools team and I had the good fortune to make
the team.
How the rest of the story . . . .
One day at practice before the season began
we were having one of those days that elementary kids have. The majority of
kids weren’t taking practice very seriously and quite frankly driving the coach
craze that day.
Coach Jack was not very happy with the
practice or the players that day and as only Coach Jack could blow his whistle
and announced that practice was over.
We where only into the practice for
about fifteen minutes when Coach Jack had enough and blow the whistle and said
practice was over.
That’s not what the players wanted to hear. The players responded with that the team had
over hour of practice left. Coach Jack responded by saying that what he was
seeing was not practice and it looked like a half hearted effort disorganized
effort.
What Coach Jack said next was a life
lesson that I carry with me today.
Coach Jack said that perfect practice
makes your better and the way you practice makes what your practicing permanent
and that as a team we were practicing to lose.
After a stern and motivational team
meeting we resumed practice and when on to become winners that season.
Practice makes permanent, practice and
prepare yourself to achieve your goals and to cross the finish line and into the
winners circle of life.
