Mental Notes
“Ideas can come from anywhere and at any
time, The problem
with making mental notes is that the ink
fades very rapidly.”
Rolf Smith, Forward Thinker and Author
As I see it . . . . . . .
Mental notes
I can share with you from personal
experience making mental notes are soon forgotten.
Over the course of a day . . . . I’m
driving to meetings and appointments . . . . working with customers . . . . speaking
to groups . . . . conducting training . . . . in meeting . . . . and in consulting.
In a flash you get an idea and you make
a mental note on the idea with the intention of acting on it . . . . and left
on its own the mental note the ideas fades from your memory very quickly.
What I have found that works best for me
is . . . .
I carry (3x5) index cards in my shirt
pocket to make a quick note of the idea. It works great when I’m in a meeting
without disturbing the other people in the room or for saving a fast idea or
thought before I lose it.
I also use a digital voice recorder when
I’m flying and driving . . . . and I can tell it’s very productive in saving
your idea.
A mental note, fade very fast . . . .
Making a written note or a voice note preserves the idea and gives you the
ability to expend it and make the most out of it.
