You Don’t Understand Me
“When I was 5 years old, my mother
always told me that happiness
was the key to life. When I went to
school, they asked me what
I wanted to be, when I grew up. I wrote
down ‘happy’. They
told me I didn’t understand the
assignment, and I told
them they didn’t understand me.”
John Lennon, English Musician, Singer,
Songwriter,
Founding Member of the Beatles
As I see it . . . . . . .
You don’t understand me
If I make you comfortable being in my
presents . . . . you will communicate with me and understand me.
If I ask you questions . . . . you will
tell me.
If I listen . . . . I will hear you.
If I hear you . . . . I will understand
you.
If I make you feel important . . . . you
will like being in my company.
You don’t understand me . . . . is
deeply rooted in poor commutations.
Poor communication . . . . becomes a
bi-product of not proactively listening to the person who is speaking.
You don’t understand me is at the root
of close to 70% of all the divorces in the country. And a major factor of
broken relationship in business and lost business opportunities.
You don’t understand me . . . . is slippery
path downhill . . . . Listen to what a person is telling you . . . . and you
will hear what it will take to build a strong relationship with the person and
do business with them.
