A New Year Commitment

A New Year Commitment
“A New Year resolution is something that
goes in one year and out the other.”
Author unknown

As I see it. . . . . . . .

A New Year commitment

People make a New Year Resolution many of which turn out to be a like to . . . .  a maybe . . . . I’ll get around to it . . . . if I can . . . . if only I had the time.

Most resolutions have a very short life expectancy . . . . they soon die . . . . and become forgotten.

What’s important to you?

What do want to accomplish?

What are your goals?

Make a written list of what you want to achieve in the coming year. Make a commitment to achieve successful closure on each item on your commitment list.

Make . . . . a New Year commitment . . . . and you have taken a giant step in creating a successful new year.

Let Change Be With You
“The entrepreneur always searches for change, responds to it,
and exploits it as an opportunity.”
Peter Drucker 1909 – 2005, Austrian-Born American
Management Consultant, Educator, Author

As I see it . . . . . . .

Let change be with you

Nothing remains the same . . . . and it can be said that we live our life in a constant state of change.

Rigid thinking becomes unbending to change . . . . and resists it at every turn. Fighting change will exhaust a person’s energy and misdirect it from productive activity into fighting a losing battle. Also fighting change will stress a person out without any redeeming benefits.

Let change be with you . . . . is the way you look at change.

Rather than resisting the change look at it from a big picture prospective . . . . Ask yourself what are the benefits that the change offers . . . . and what are the opportunities within the change.

Respond to change with a positive outlook and you will see the benefits . . . . the opportunities . . . . and the best way to adapt and make the most out of  the change.

Let the change be with you . . . . and you will find a way to turn it into a strategic business advantage.

You Have the Power to Shape Your Future

You Have the Power to Shape Your Future
“We all make mistakes, have struggles, and even regret things
in our past. But you are not your mistakes, you are not your
struggles, and you are here and now with the power to shape
your day and your future.”
Steve Maraboli, American Bestselling Author,
Speaker

As I see it . . . . . . .

You have the power to shape your future

You have the power . . . . in your hands . . . . and in your thinking to sharp your future.

With a positive mental attitude your future will look like one stepping after another leading you from one possibility to another. You will look at your future like modeling clay in your hands to shape it in any way you choose.

The power to shape your future is rooted in your personal beliefs . . . . and believing in yourself and in your ability to create your future.

What you believe you can do . . . . will become a driving force in your life to create your desired outcome.

You have the power to shape your future . . . . That power is in your hands and in hard work. It’s in your attitude . . . . and in your mental outlook.

There Are Four Ways People Evaluate You

There Are Four Ways People Evaluate You
“There are four ways, and only four ways, in which we have
contract with the world. We are evaluated and classified by
these four contacts: what we do, how we look, what we say,
and how we say it.”
Dale Carnegie, American Motivational Writer and Speaker

As I see it . . . . . . .

There are four ways people evaluate you

People will evaluate you of 4 basic principles:

■ What you do . . . .

■ How you look . . . .

■ What you say . . . .

■ How you say it . . . .

Here’s the key . . . . it’s not the best 3 out of 4 . . . . It’s all 4.

People will evaluate you on the 4 basic principles in the background of their sub-conscious mind. What they are thinking is playing very softly in their sub-conscious thinking.

They will make a decision if they like you . . . .

They will make a decision if the trust you . . . .

They will make a decision if they will do business with you . . . .

This is happening very quickly and based on what they think . . . . they will decide to continue working with you . . . . or they will decide to find another business professional to help them.

Your first impression makes a lasting impression with the people at you meet . . . . That first impression will become the basis for a successful business relationship . . . . or a brief encounter.

There are four ways people evaluate you . . . . Be aware that it’s happening and put your best foot forward to make a great first impression . . . .  for that opportunity is a onetime experience.

Look Back for the Lessons

Look Back for the Lessons
“The first peak is the best place to pause and look back, to see
if you took the easiest route, to learn the lessons from the first
climb. And it is the best place to examine the terrain ahead, to
change your plans and goals, to take a deep breath
and begin climbing again.”
Michael Johnson, Retired American Sprinter, Won 4 Olympic
Gold Medals, Eight World championship Gold Medals

As I see it . . . . . . .

Look back for the lessons

The lessons learned from the past once learned . . . . become a valuable resource on your success journey.

They will make your success journey going forward more efficient . . . . making far better use of your time and resources to achieve your objectives.

Look back for the lessons . . . . and use those lessons to move you forward better prepared to handle the vigor’s of your success journey and to keep you on purpose.

Master the Situation

Master the Situation
“To be a great leader and to always master of the situation one
must of necessity have been a great thinker in action.
An eagle was never yet hatched from a goose’s egg.”
James Thomas, Basketball player

As I see it . . . . . . .

Master the situation

Five of the critical elements of mastering the situation . . . . is to think clearly . . . .  make good decisions . . . . remain composed . . . .  act on the situation with purpose . . . . and to stick with it until you achieve successful results.

Thinking clearly . . . . allows you to look at the situation as it really is and to formulate a plan to create a successful outcome.

Making decisions . . . . Comes in clear thinking . . . . and in not overacting to the situation. In responding to the situation, with a plan and a course on action to resolve the situation successfully . . . . you will make far better decisions.

Remain composed . . . . No matter how intense the situation becomes remain the calmest person in the room and you will remain focused on the solution to situation.

Act on the situation . . . . with the purpose of removing it . . . . Correcting it . . . . adjusting it . . . . and putting it behind you.

Stick with it . . . . until you create a successful outcome.

You can meter the situation . . . . when you look at it realistically . . . . and focus you efforts on finding a successful outcome.

Why Wait For Christmas

Why Wait For Christmas
“My Idea of Christmas whether old-fashioned or modem, is
very simple; loving others. Come to think about of it,
why do we have to wait for Christmas to do that?”
Bob Hope, 1903 – 2003, English Born American Film Actor,
Author, Comedian

As I see it . . . . . . .

Why wait for Christmas

The spirit of Christmas is in your heart . . . . Why wait for Christmas to express the feeling in your heart and spreading love and compassion for the people in your life.

Most charities need help year around for people who are less fortunate. They need many things including food, clothing, and money. There is also a great need for volunteers to help and offer their skills.

Carry the Christmas spirit with you year around. Touch someone’s life with your Christmas spirit, not only will you change their life . . . . Along the way it will have a lasting impact your life as well.

Why wait for Christmas . . . . Bring the spirit of Christmas into someone’s life every day.

The Spirit of Christmas

The Spirit of Christmas
“May the spirit of Christmas bring you peace.
The gladness of Christmas gives you hope,
The warmth of Christmas grants you love.”
Author Unknown

As I see it . . . . . . .

The spirit of Christmas

The spirit of Christmas has difference meanings for difference people.

For a young child it’s the anticipation of the magical day when there will be presents under the tree.

For others it’s bringing the family together for fellowship and sharing great food.

Some will look at the photos of the Christmas’s that have pasted . . . . and the remembrance in the happy memories of the past.

Other will have the Christmas spirit in them and spread that spirit to the people they meet.

Some people will see Christmas as a day of sharing and giving . . . . and will bring that spirit into their lives.

Celebrate in the way you choose . . . . and I hope the spirit of Christmas is with you throughout the year.

Bet on Your Ideas

Bet on Your Ideas
“We must have courage to bet on our ideas, to take calculated
risk, and to act. Everyday living requires courage if life is
to be effective and bring happiness.”
Maxwell Maltz 1899 - 1975, American Cosmetic Surgeon
and Author of Psycho Cybernetics

As I see it . . . . . . .

Bet on your ideas

Everything starts with an idea . . . . If you look at the greatest breakthroughs over the last century they all started as an idea. That idea then became the breakthrough when someone acted on them.

Your ideas have value . . . . Some will have the capacity to create a breakthrough in your life others, become stepping stones on your success journey.

For your ideas to create value in your life you have to act on them . . . . to bring their potential into the light of day and value into your life.

Have the courage to act on your ideas . . . . Be willing to step out of your comfort zone to try.

Bet on your ideas . . . . bet on yourself . . . . and release your personal  power to create a breakthrough in your life.

Plan and Take Action

Plan and Take Action
“Life is too short to waste. Dreams are fulfilled only through
actions, not through endless planning to take actions.”
David J. Schwartz, Trainer and Author

As I see it . . . . . . .

Plan and take action

Planning is a forerunner to achieving your . . . . goals.

Endless planning without executing your plan and taking action . . . . is procrastination. Nothing happens until you act on your plan and take action.

Life is too short to waste on procrastinating . . . . your plan will never be perfect . . . . there will never be a perfect time. What you have is the here and now . . . . take your plan and take action on it. Do the best you can with the resources you have and make adjustments to your plan as you are moving forward.

The only way that you will make forward progress . . . . and to reach your objectives is to plan and take action on your plan.

People Want to Know How Much You Care

People Want to Know How Much You Care
“The greatest gift that you can give to others is the gift of
unconditional love and acceptance.”
Brian Tracy, Author, Motivational Speaker

As I see it . . . . . . .

People want to know how much you care

In any business environment your customers want to know that you understand their needs . . . . that you will put their interests ahead of your own . . . . and that you care about them

When your customers feel that you do you greatly increase the likelihood of doing business with them. If your customers feel that any of the elements are missing the likelihood of doing business with you will be greatly diminished.

Accept your customers for who they are . . . . it a business transaction not a life changing experience. And demonstrate through your actions that understand their needs . . . . and that you care about them as people.

People want to know how much you care . . . . in business when the customers feel you care about them and their needs the transaction goes much smoother.

It’s the Content of What You Say

It’s the Content of What You Say
“The basic rule of human nature is that powerful people speak
slowly and subservient people quickly - -  because if they
don’t speak fast nobody would listen to them.”
Brendan Gill, Author

As I see it . . . . . . .

It’s the content of what you say

Same people talk at a rapid pace . . . . and some people will have a hard time in following what the speaker is saying.

Some people speak very slow and with a purpose.  In both cases the listener can turn out for the speaker based on the pace of the conversation.

Here’s the key . . . . people will listen to you when you present them with quality content. No matter if it’s for a speaking presentation . . . . a customer . . . . or on a listing appointment.

In every aspect of life professional communicators provide the listener . . . . with quality content to keep the listener engaged in the conversation.

Match and mirror your customer’s speech patterns . . . . and the pace at which they’re speaking at. And give the person good content in the conversation and you will find that person is giving you their full attention as they listen to you . . . . and you build rapport with them.

It’s the content of what you say . . . . that effectively engages the listener.

Rest Your Head on the Pillow of Gratitude

Rest Your Head on the Pillow of Gratitude
“Let gratitude be the pillow upon which you need to say your
nightly prayer. And let faith be the bridge you build to
overcome evil and welcome good.”
Maya Angelou, American Author, Poet

As I see it . . . . . . .

Rest your head on the pillow of gratitude

When you are resting your head on the pillow of gratitude . . . . you are living your life forward and showing positive appreciation for all the blessing in your life.

Gratitude is coming from having a positive attitude about your life . . . . and not dwelling on the challenges and obstacles in your life.

Have faith in yourself and in your abilities . . . . Use your ability to bridge you from where you are today into the future. Believe in yourself and that you will successful achieve your goals.

Rest your head on the pillow of gratitude . . . . at end of each day and you will reflect back on the positive elements of your day. And they will become the starting point in the morning of a productive day.

Successful People Listen
“Most of the successful people I’ve know do more listening
than talking.”
Bernard M. Baruch  1870 – 1965, American Financier,
Stock Investor, Philanthropist, Statesman,
Political  Consultant

As I see it . . . . . . .

Successful people listen

The talker miss the real conversation and more than likely will take themselves out of the business.

Business communication plays an essential role in the exchange of information. It becomes a key element in really understanding the person that you’re communicating with.

As you communicate with that person . . . . you will build rapport with the person. That rapport will build a bridge to mutual understanding and trust in the relationship.

Also by listening to a person your showing respect for the person that’s speaking and an interest in what they are saying.

In that process they will share their real motivation . . . . Their fears . . . . and give you all the information that you will need to help them.

The talker is so busy talking . . . . they have no clue on what the other person is really saying and why they’re saying it.

Successful people listen . . . . their way to a successful career of building successful and lasting business relationships.

So What

So What
“Don’t wait until everything is just right. It will never be perfect.
There will always be challenges, obstacles and less than perfect
conditions. So what. Get started now. With each step you take,
you will grow stronger and stronger, more and more skilled,
more and more self-confident and more and more successful.”
Mark Victor Hansen, Best Selling Author, Motivational Speaker

As I see it . . . . . . .

So what

Some will say to wait it’s not the right time to start . . . . So what . . . . Make it the right time and start.

Some people will tell you the obstacles and the challenges will too much for you to succeed . . . . In who’s opinion? Because that all it is . . . . some ones opinion . . . . and their opinion are their limiting beliefs . . . . not yours.

You don’t need perfect conditions to start your success journey . . .  . or to take on a new challenge . . . . But your success journey won’t start until you do.

Make your conditions . . . . stepping stones to a successful future

You grow when you step out of your comfort zone . . . .and try.

Your success journey is a journey of a lifetime. The conditions will continually change . . . . and there will be obstacles and challenges.

The one constant on your success journey is you . . . . When other are trying feed a diet of negative thinking . . . . It’s their thinking . . . . not your. Just look at them and say “so what” and move forward.

Real Independence
“If money is your hope for independence you will never have it.
The only real security that a man will have in this world is
a reserve of knowledge, experience, and ability.”
Henry Ford 1863 - 1947, American Industrialist, Founder
of the Ford Motor Company

As I see it . . . . . . .

Real Independence

Your real independence in life is in your knowledge and your ability to maximize the use of it.

It’s not in HOW MUCH knowledge you have . . . . its in HOW YOU USE your knowledge.

When a person has a great deal of knowledge and doesn’t apply it with a purpose or effectively . . . . that knowledge has a very limited value to the holder.

On the other hand the person that takes their knowledge even though that knowledge may be limited.

When they apply their knowledge with purpose and enthusiasm they will get far more out of their knowledge. They will outperform the person with superior knowledge who lacks purpose or motivation.

The key is . . . . Real independence comes in  the use of ALL the knowledge you have . . . . and continue to add more as you go.

The Ability to Think

The Ability to Think
“During my eighty-seven years I have witnessed a whole
succession of technological revolutions. But none of
them has done away with the need for character
in the individual or the ability to think.”
Bernard Barch1870 – 1965, American Financier, Stock
Investor, Philanthropist, Statesman, Political Consultant,

As I see it . . . . . . .

The ability to think

One of the most precious resources you have in life is your ability to think.

The business professional that can think and consistently uses that life skill will find its an invaluable resource in their profession.

Having that ability allows you to sort information . . . . and to use that information to pursue and create successful results.

A thinker will find the answers to problems . . . . They will successful navigate their way through the challenging conditions they encounter. They will also find themselves being able to move through various conditions quicker. They will be more efficiently then someone is trying to do it by flying by the seat of their pants.

Your ability to think impacts every aspect of your life . . . . and with clear thinking you can carve out a path to greater success.

With the ability to think you will find yourself make far fewer  mistake . . . . and making far better use of your time for productive purposes..

When You’re Facing a Mountain . . . . Climb It

When You’re Facing a Mountain . . . . Climb It
“Today is your day! Your mountain is waiting . . .
get on your way .”
Dr Seuss

As I see it. . . . . . . .

When you’re facing a mountain . . . . Climb it

You will face many mountains in your life . . . . some will seem to be an insurmountable obstacle while others you can just take the tunnel through the mountain.

How you see the mountains in your life is a reflection of your attitude. If a person sees the mountain as insurmountable the person's attitude is a reflection of negative thinking . . . . and with the glass being half empty attitude.

That person can only see the problem . . . .

If the person sees the tunnel through the mountain they process a positive can do attitude . . . . and are solution driven.

Today is your day to do with it as you please . . . . make it a productive day and a day closer to fulfilling your dream.

When a mountain is in your way . . . .  and when you’re facing a mountain . . . . . Climb it or find the best way around it. Whatever you choose to do with your mountains is a personal choice.

Give Thanks For What You Have

Give Thanks For What You Have
“You simply will not be the same person two months from
now after consciously giving thanks each day for
the abundance that exits in your life. And you will have
set in motion an ancient spiritual law: the more you
have and are grateful for, the more will be given you.”
Sarah Ban Breathnack, Writer

As I see it . . . . . . .

Give thanks for what you have

Be thankful for the people in your life and for what you have achieved.

Being thankful is a state of mind to where you’re looking at the things in your life from a positive mindset. And recognizing and being thankful for the positive things in your life.

When you’re thankful for what you have in your life . . . . it’s not saying that you don’t have the drive to push forward to achieve new goal. By being thankful for what you have is showing appreciation for your blessing . . . . and enjoying the fruits of your efforts.

By giving thanks for what you have in your life . . . . becomes the stepping stones of attracting more into your life.

Give thanks for what you have . . . . and move into the future with positive expectations for your future. Reinforce your expectations with the activities that will create the forward momentum to successfully reach your goals.

A Positive Attitude is the Basis for a Quality Performance

A Positive Attitude is the Basis for a Quality Performance
“Quality performance (and quality service) starts with
a positive attitude.”
Jeffrey Gitomer, American Author, Professional
Speaker, Business Trainer

As I see it . . . . . . .

A positive attitude is the basis for a quality performance

Your attitude will determine your mindset . . . . and the quality of your performance.

With a positive attitude your performance will become a mirror image of your attitude . . . . The quality of your performance will meet or exceed your expectations  . . . . and very likely exceed those of your customers.

Your attitude is critical in your performance . . . . and based on that performance your customers will make a decision about doing business with you. Also when your services exceed their expectations they consider becoming a repeat customers and refer new customers to you.

A positive attitude is the basis for a quality performance . . . . and your customers will judge you based on the quality of the service that they consistently receive from you

I May Not Agree With You

I May Not Agree With You
“I disapprove of what you have to say, but I will defend the
death your right to say it.”
Evelyn Beatrice Hall, 1868 – 1919, English Writer

As I see it . . . . . . .

I may not agree with you

I may not agree with you . . . . but you have a right to say it.

As a business professional I may or may not agree with what you’re saying . . . . But it’s my role to listen to what you’re saying . . . . and to understand why your saying it.

Effective communications is an essential business skill in the exchange of information in a successful business relationship.

In order to influence a person that you agree or disagree with to have to proactively listen to them . . . .  and hear them out . . . .  To understand where they’re coming from and how strong their opinions are.

For the other person to listen to you they have to trust you . . . . and there has to be mutual respect and rapport in the business relationship. With it the person will listen to you and with facts you will have the ability to influence them.

Without it there is very little likely hood that they will listen to you or take your advice.

I may not agree with you . . . . Remember the other person as the right to their opinion. Your role is to hear them out and to understand where they’re coming from . . . . what they’re say . . . . and why. Build your relationship with the person that they will listen to you and accept your advice.

What You Decide to Do is Up to You

What You Decide to Do is Up to You
“The list of reasons for not doing very well in life is actually a very
short list. It should contain only you name.”
Larry Winger, Author, Speaker
From the book You’re Broke because You Want to Be

As I see it . . . . . . .

What you decide to do is up to you

You decide when you get up in the morning . . . . and what time you go to bed.

You decide to sleep in . . . . or to get up early and excise before work.

You decide to invest a little extra time at work to get a project done . . . . or to leave the project go until the next day.

What You Decide to Do is Up to You

No matter if you’re self-employed  . . . . or work for someone else you decide how you handle the role. You decide the level of success that you want to achieve . . . . and you decide how hard you’ll work for it.

It’s up to you to put yourself into a position to succeed and to remain determinate to reach your goal.

What you decide to do is up to you . . . . make the choice and go after what you want with the determination to make it happen.
